This sweater cuts the chill when outside and is nice enough to wear around the office. It's thin so it easy to layer with other items and the inner layer is soft on the skin while keeping you warm.

This piece is my absolute favorite. I have it in two sizes...one to wear alone and one a size larger for layering. Ice fishing, hiking, snowshoeing, wearing around the office...use it for everything. Now, I need another in a different color. You can't go wrong with this!

I purchased two of these over two years ago. Even though they are worn, I doubt I will ever throw them away. This year I bought THREE! I have an enormous wardrobe and these are of my favorites. Do I recommend them YES!! Mtn Hardwaer has blended the right amount of wool with other fibers for a snuggly warm classy fit & feel. You can wash them and machine dry (although they recommend lay flat to dry) they are true to size and FABULOUS!! I'm headed to the Sierras Mtns today for a snowy weekend and I'm packing three of them. Hope you enjoy as I have.

When I lost this sweater earlier this winter I missed it so much I only lasted one month before replacing it exactly. It is extremely warm without bulk, and goes with everything.

Perfect for work and casual

I absolutely love these cardigans, they are the best. Tailored and flattering on the outside and so soft on the inside you don't ever want to take them off. Add washable to that, and you can't beat them. I have a couple of the colors and you won't regret choosing this!

I bought two!

I initially bought this sweater in black with the nice green interior. Where normally I wear a small or medium, I had to buy this one in large. But that's OK, the large is a great fit. Comfortable, just warm enough, easy to layer, nice looking, versatile, and not too bulky... I love it. So much so that I bought a second one in navy. I love the contrasting interior plus it's very soft inside - no scratchy wool. It's so easy to put on whenever I need a bit more warmth.

This is a great sweater: the wool/poly is warm and soft, with buttery soft lining along the neck. I have a sarafin pullover that I LOVE, in part for the thumbholes that make it even warmer. This cardigan doesn't live up to that pullover, but it's a close second. It's nice enough to wear to work with slacks and rugged enough for a layer outdoors.

So warm and comfy with a slimming fit. Nice length, cute cuffs that turn up for a bit of contrast. I have last year's brown with the orange trim and love it along with the black with green trim. Wore it with a vest on cold Seattle days in December and as a warm winter layer in Montana.Washes well and very attractive. Only problem were pills on the sleeve.

serafin cardigan

I bought this sweater a couple of years ago, and then saw that it was still available this season. I really like it, but my newest one seems to run a bit smaller than my original one. I got a size S. I chose to keep it, because I know a M will be too big in sleeves, but think they should regroup on the fit of the body. You can layer something very light under it, which is what I do for skiing.

Great performance!

I purchased this sweater a year ago to wear while running bike errands in the cold. It has kept me warm, but it hadn't been put through its paces until today. I was caught in a light drizzle and then a light rain, and even though I could see and feel the water beading up on the sweater, it never soaked through. I was wearing a cotton turtleneck underneath and thought it might absorb the rain like a sponge, but when I got home my torso was the only part of me that was dry. This piece has been a great investment and I would highly recommend it.

This zip up sweater is comfortable, light weight, and still warm. I bought mine in purple and I love the color. The only thing I would point out, is that it is Just barely long enough. If you have a long torso, maybe consider buying one size larger than normal.

Trim, Med-Light Weight, Great Two-Tone Design

What I like best about this cardigan is that it has one color on the ribs, and a complimentary one between. The black, if I remember correctly is black and green, with the rest sporting lighter/darker combinations. It is a fairly heavy, stiff yarn (not really scratchy...) so it is a second layer. The fit is trim, so it will go over a light first-layer but, I wouldn't think of this as out-of-doors wear except as the initial garment you turn to when you feel a bit of a chill. However, let me say I haven't yet worn this extensively. As one who wears fleece cardigans around the house in winter, I will choose this as a better looking alternative.

fits great, but why so itchy?

I always have trouble deciding whether to go with small or medium, so I ordered both. The small was very snug - only a very tight shirt would fit underneath. I went with the medium and it is still body skimming. The colors are great, it's warm, and the lining is cosy and prevents itching. I think this is a sweater I'll wear all the time.

Nice layering piece

I wanted to be able to wear this over another layer, so I purposely bought the Small instead of an extra small, which I usually purchase from MH. The cardigan is loose enough that I can wear a tshirt underneath and be comfortable, definitely not skin tight. I really like the colors; I ordered the black color which has green underlying colors, very sleek looking.

THanks to the other reviews, I purchased a large instead of my usual Medium. The large is great, the sleeves are nice and long and the body is fitting but has enough room for under layers.
I normally wear a layer underneath, then the cardigan and my down vest to walk the dogs and am very warm down to my fingers and neck.
I really like the look of the sweater as well. I bought the black with green. It does show dog hard almost too well, but I am thinking of purchasing a second one in a lighter color as I know it will last for a long time and once you find something that is great, I like to get a couple.

I bought a red/burgundy one first and loved it so much, I ordered a blue one as well. It fits really well. The colors are warm and not bright and obnoxious. I especially like the contrasting lining in the collar. Great product.

Worth It

Love this sweater! It's warm and not bulky. Looks great at the office because it's slim fitted and not too thick. This is a fitted sweater plan so plan on wearing a fitted shirt underneath. Good buy.

Small in shoulders and arms

But too big in the bust. This sweater can be very baggy in the chest. I had to get the medium because of the arm holes bing to small, but I compromised with the bust. Nice colors though.

Sarafin Cardigan in Black

After ordering this sweater, I was surprised to see that the sweater was black as stated but rather black and dark green. It also fit much more snug than the other styles of Mountain Hardwear sweaters.

Sarafin Cardigan!

I have a couple of these and I love them. I wear it as a jacket on cool days and I don't feel like it needs to come off just because I come inside. Many times I leave it on all day. It is form fitting and doesn't get in the way. No hand warming pockets, but I think they would just add unwanted bulkiness. Really, a great cardigan!
