The garment will be great for a warmer base layer (I've only worn it around the house so far). I've had less-expensive gridded products that didn't have enough stretch but this one does.You'll find grid on the front and back, and lighter-weight, smooth stretch fabric under the arms and on the sides. It will fill the niche between micro-fleece and heavy fleece tops in my outdoor, and around-the-house, wardrobe. My only complaint, and I have purchased almost all the colors, is that the one labeled with "blue" in the description is almost as aqua as the one noted as such. Fortunately, I don't care as long as it keeps me warm, stretches, and moves moisture (it does).
